Kentucky’s foremost film educators will gather to promote Kentucky’s current opportunities in film education, as well as the future development of these programs in pursuit of creating a stronger film culture and film economy in the Commonwealth. This unique symposium will also address the rise of cinema studies and filmmaking programs across academe, the usefulness of their degrees, their evolutionary future, and what it takes for such programs to take root, thrive and remain relevant.
Jack Epps Jr., Chair of the Writing Division at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and writer of such films as Top Gun, Legal Eagles, The Secret of My Success, Turner and Hooch, Dicky Tracy, and Anaconda will give a keynote address.
Kentucky Film Commission member, screenwriter and film educator Brad Riddell will moderate the panel discussion, featuring filmmakers and educators from many of Kentucky’s finest colleges and universities.
The summit will be held during the IdeaFestival on Saturday, September 24th at 9:00 AM in the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. This event is presented by The Kentucky Film Commission and is free and open to the public.
